On- and off-road cyclists are extremely well catered for at Castello di Fonterutoli, which is at the heart of a region where cycling culture has a long and glorious history. Routes for all levels and tastes, short and long, easy and challenging, are available both within the estate and in the spectacular Chianti hills, whose hamlets, towns, castles and many cycle-friendly coffee bars, wine bars, snack outlets and gelaterias are waiting to be explored.

Horse riding
A horseback ride through the hills of Chianti is a marvellous way to enjoy our extraordinary natural surroundings. With the Quadifoglio stables in Staggia, 15 minutes' drive from Fonterutoli, we can arrange hour-long hacks.
Trekking
The rolling hills around Fonterutoli are a walker’s paradise. Hiking trails wend their way along farm tracks and across streams, through woods full of wildlife, perhaps passing by an Etruscan necropolis or following an old pilgrims' route, the via Francigena.

Tennis
A game of tennis is great holiday fun, and we've recently revamped our synthetic grass court which is located on the Mazzei family's Il Caggio estate, just 2.5km (1.5 miles) from Fonterutoli.
With its superb views over vineyards towards the hamlet of Caggio, it can be tough to keep your eye on the ball. The court must be booked in advance: ask at reception or contact us.
Spa & Wellness
Castello di Fonterutoli has arrangements with a number of health resorts and spas in the area, including the COMO group's Castello del Nero spa, which is just 40 minutes' drive away. Also offering special conditions for our guests are Villa San Paolo in San Gimignano, and the Antica Querciolaia and Terme di San Giovanni thermal baths in Rapolano.

Fishing
A ten-minute drive over hills and through the vineyards of our estate leads to the Vallechiara sport fishing lake.
With its restaurants and children's play area, Vallechiara is ideal for a first taste of fishing. It's suitable for adults and children of all ages eager to try out their skills, or simply to spend a few pleasurable hours in the open air.

Castello di Fonterutoli actively collaborates with a company in the area for the 125cc Vespa scooter rental service. Upon request and availability, the transport and collection service is also guaranteed directly at the facility, which allows our guests to book and receive their rental here in Fonterutoli.
